A big thank you to
all of you who took part in our latest show at Trinity
House, especially to those who donated towards our raffle
which raised £45 for the Axminster TIC. The
weather was on our side for most of the week and we had
a record breaking 400 people through the doors. We
had 16 artists with 79 paintings, which is lower than
last time, however, we were very pleased to sell 14 paintings
ranging from £15 to £160. We
also set up leads which should result
in several commissions. Sales of glass, willow and especially
pottery did well. Again
we were very encouraged by the nice comments about the
high standard and diversity of the work displayed. Eddie Burrows was an outright winner of the visitor's vote with his stunning painting "Lyme Harbour". Jill Swainson came second with her much admired photographs especially Pilgrim Bridge. Adrian Ballantyne was third with his "On the Bottom" harbour painting. Fourth: Barry Helsby's The Univited Guest; Fifth: Moya Paul's Storm Horses and joint Sixth: Sylvia Elsbury's A Winter's Stroll; Jill Swainson's Pilgrim Donkey; Adrian Ballantyne's Perranporth Sunset and Eddie Burrow's Beer Luggers. As usual just about every painting and craft was voted on by at least one person.

Another successful
show has come to an end! We had over 350 people visit,
most of whom came just for the show. We sold 3 paintings
and had a commission for another. The room was full of
wonderful crafts and we sold lots of cards as well as
folios, calendars, jewellery, scarves, papercraft, turned
wood, fused glass and enamelled copper. We hope you were
able to visit the show, or look at the photos on the photo
gallery, as we were very pleased with the high standard
once again. We were hindered slightly by the unpleasant
weather, but comments in the visitor's book are still
very encouraging.
Adrian Ballantyne's beautiful Tidal Mooring won the Visitor's Vote and he was very pleased to receive the prize of acrylic paints. Wendy's Barn in Winter and Lisa's Cow Parsley took joint second place. In joint third place was: Kay Clive-Francis' Swans on the Axe; Keith Howard's Kingfisher; Marcia Mackin's Spring Wood; and Fran Rees' Seaton Bluebells. |

| Art Show, Trinity House, Axminster July 17-31, 2010 | |
We were very happy with
the diverse collection and high quality of the show which
was backed up by visitor’s comments that our shows
are getting better each time. We had 34 artists and 8
crafters submitting 96 paintings, 6 sculptures and a lovely
variety of top quality crafts. The crafts included fused
glass, willow sculptures, papercraft, jewellery, pottery,
textiles and stained glass etc. Our two local florists
kindly donated two beautiful floral displays. We had recordbreaking
numbers of visitors with 353 the first week followed by
330 the second, totalling 683. Once again the remarks
in our Comments Book have been very encouraging and complimentary.
Our art sales were 4 paintings and 2 folios. However,
the crafts flew out of the door, especially Jenny Knight’s
unique willow sculptures. Again all the paintings received
at least one visitor’s vote with the clear winner
being Eddie Burrow’s Diamonds and Rust. Runners
up were Cynthia Source’s Winter Sunset at Seaton;
Lisa Lyman’s Chakra Patchwork; Carolyn King’s
The Future’s Bright the Future’s Beige!, Paddy
Rayner’s Istanbul Cat, Charlotte Norton’s
Matahari and Alan Dodson’s Charmouth to Golden Cap. |

more than 100 paintings, textile art and glass art. We
also exhibited sculptures, pottery, turned wood, jewellery,
hand-painted silk and two lovely artistic floral displays.
We were pleased to welcome over 360 visitors to the show
despite the challenging weather! Again the remarks in
our Comments Book have been very encouraging and complimentary.
We sold six paintings; a piece of sculpture; several pieces
of pottery and turned wood, silk ties; glass and dozens
of cards. We were also happy to contact a couple of artists
with possible commissions. All the paintings received
at least one visitor’s vote with the clear winner
being Camille Clipson’s A Stroll in the Desert followed
by Eddie Burrow’s Red Bridge. Runners up were Jacqueline
Roberts-Wake’s Poppies, Adrian Ballantyne’s
The Trawlers, Barry Helsby’s Steaming to Lyme Regis
and Karen Dupe’s colourful Chickens. Thank you to all the artists and artisans creating such a diverse display and thank you to Trinity House for once again allowing us to use their lovely top floor. |
